My Introduction

Hello all,

My name is Eugene Shepherd, born and raised in England, worked all my life, still working, like most of us, "still paying taxes"

Fed up with this never ending rip off culture that we live in, I decided that I had to write a blog expressing about the way I/we feel about this whole situation in the UK. We are a small Island yet the so called government, who are supposed to be responsible for financially managing our country, are just not qualified to do so, hence the mess that they have got us into.

I personally believe that central government should not have a free hand with our money that comes from taxation, the reason the UK is in such a financial mess is because of the billions of pounds being given to different parts of the world year in year out. Now, if we have a serious money shortage in this country, then NO MONEY SHOULD BE LEAVING THE UK.

I believe there should be an independent financial body, a third party that would be totally separate from government, and as regard to our tax money, that body would have the last say, full control of all funds in that tax pot, they would make the final decision, so as an example, if the government wanted to give money to another country for what ever reason, then this Financial body would have the authority to refuse this request, on the grounds that the funds would not be available, the reasons would be many, NHS financial shortages, services cuts, ex military sleeping on the streets, food banks and it goes on. I would name this independent body, the UK PUBLIC FINANCE AUTHORITY (UKPFA) this body would decide, what treasury money should be spent on, Government would be subject to approval of funds needed by them, UKPFA will and would always have the final say, Government would have NO SAY IN ANY FINANCIAL DECISIONS.

If the above system had been in place, billions of tax payers money would have never left the UK,

My first job here is to put a massive spot light on UK taxes, all of them, I feel this is an extremely important area to concentrate on for my first blog, we all recognize that there has to be some form of taxation for various reasons, but what we are seeing more and more, is the never ending increases in the public tax system, yet there is this continual squandering and the casual waste of our money by governments, all done in a very cavalier way.

It seems, that when the shite hits the fan, we the good old tax payer, get splattered with the fall out and we have to swallow the lot. Like I mentioned earlier, not a lot we can do about the tax situation, but we can as a force, be a force, in that we have our say about the unfairness of it all.  Could this be a new 2025 version of a more peaceful, written protest “RESISTANCE to OVER-TAXATION” yes you guessed it, “R.O.T.” why, because we have had to put up with enough rot over the years, lawful reform is what is needed, to slow down the pace of the tax increases, with the focus on how much money is actually going out of the UK.  Money that has been lost through government failed projects and investments, selling off British Rail and then having to bail them out. the British Steel sell off , particularly going back to the covid years and beyond, the amount of massive money that had been lost is estimated at around 15 billion through fraud & error, 4 billion of PPE bought in the first year of covid 19, of which was unusable. Just three examples where our money has been wasted, but there is so much more, I want to drill right down into all other areas where taxpayers money has been lost, squandered and wasted.

 Apart from all the taxation and all the rip offs, in future blogs, I want to talk about SHRINKFLATION!  This is yet another area that we, the people living in the UK, have experienced over many years. What is Shrinkflation? It is when companies quietly reduce the size, weight, or amount of a product without lowering the price, in fact they often increase the price, hoping we won’t notice because the packaging still looks the same. It’s a stealth tax on the public and we’re footing the bill as usual. I want to find out just how many products that we buy in the shops have been affected by this practice.
